The Bear Den:
Nature’s Unbroken Sanctuary.
In the Maliseet-Passamaquoddy language of the Wabanaki nations, Skuwikuwam (pronounced skoo-wee-koo-wum) means “bear den.”
Why a Bear Den?
Guardianship • Solitude • Survival
Throughout harsh winters, a bear den is nature’s ultimate refuge. It is a secure, hidden, self-sufficient sanctuary where a family hibernates safely, untouched by freezing storms, predators, or outside noise. Inside the den, life is protected, peaceful, and sovereign.
In our modern digital world, your personal finances, family budgets, and life plans are constantly exposed to outside elements: corporate cloud databases that get breached, telemetry trackers that log your purchase habits, and SaaS companies that lock your historical records behind monthly paywalls.
“Skuwikuwam Technologies was founded to be the bear den for your digital life: an unassailable sanctuary where your finances, documents, and future plans rest safely under your sole protection.”
We build tools that you install on your own machine. They don’t report back to us, they don’t rely on our servers to stay alive, and they never hold your financial history hostage for another monthly fee.
Our Commitments to You
The Four Sanctuary Promises
Your Data Stays With You
Your bank transactions, income, and expenses never leave your physical computer. We have no cloud database holding your records, which means there is zero risk of your financial life leaking in a server breach.
Zero Surveillance
We don’t track what stores you shop at, how much you spend on coffee, or when you balance your ledger. Skuwikuwam apps contain zero advertising beacons, analytics SDKs, or behavioral trackers.
Tools You Own, Not Rent
We believe in honest, upfront pricing. Software should be a tool you purchase once and keep forever, not a monthly bill that charges you rent for looking at your own bank balance.
Immune to Company Shutdowns
If our company were ever to shut down 30 years from now, your software and data would continue running smoothly on your computer with zero interruption. You are never dependent on our continued existence.
